2008 IATLC GENERAL BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

Skyview High School

Nampa, Idaho 3:40 P.M.

 

Richard Winegar opened the meeting with introductions of the executive board, reminders, and a warm welcome.  All conference attendees were asked to turn in badges.  First time attendees get a $10 rebate at the end of the conference.  More IATLC t-shirts will be available for purchase.  Sharon Larracoechea explained about the exhibits and drawings this year.  There was a reminder about the NNU credit requirements. 

 

Treasurer’s Report

Dennis Ohrtman gave the treasurer’s report.  ITALC has a current balance of $12, 195.

Thirty new people attended the conference this year. 

 

PNCFL Report

Kacey Larracoechea suggested that we consider making written contributions to the LINGO publication for PNCFL next year.  In addition she encouraged member to consider becoming a PAWS speaker and/or nominating colleagues for regional awards.  IATLC will host the PNCFL conference in 2009.

 

ACTFL Report

The ACTFL conference committee is looking for “hot topics” for the 2009 round-table discussion.  Please e-mail Kacey Larraocechea with ideas.  The ACTFL board is drafting a Member Code of Ethics and members are encouraged to give their input. 

 

NOMINATIONS

Members were asked to complete a form to recognize outstanding colleagues as well as indicate interest in joining the nominations committee to promote recognition of Idaho teachers.   Award nominees must be a teacher and member of IATLC for at least 3 years.

 

Motion: Sheila Miller/Sharon Larracoechea---approved Sally Husted for Vice President IATLC.

Motion: Kacey Larracoechea/Sharon Larracoechea---approved Sarah Eckert for Secretary.

Motion: Sharon Larracoechea/Kari Filson---approved Dennis Ohrtman for Treasurer.

 

Board is looking into developing a spring conference.  Mary Jackson presented a gift to Richard Winegar in appreciation for all the hard work he had done.  Jennel closed the meeting and Mary Ellen Voshell second it.
