German—Cherie Rymer, Language Chair
Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Thanks to AATG and the Goethe Institut, the 2008-2009 school year is looking to be another great year for professional development opportunities:
· November 7-9 (Friday evening-Sunday morning); McCall, Fall German Retreat; Petra Fiero, presenter (Western Washington University, Bellingham)
· February 6-8 (Friday evening-Sunday morning); Twin Falls area; Jo Sanders, Anchorage, Alaska, presenter
· Plus, those of you in the Boise area are always welcome to our new Plaudern Stunde. It’s the first Tuesday of every month, 4:30-??? at The Falcon Tavern on 8th and Idaho.
This year our chapter membership in AATG is down, yet our chapter’s reliance on AATG has grown. For the past three years we have been awarded minigrants from AATG which have helped us start our fall retreat as well as bring in presenters from out-of-state. When we use AATG consultants, AATG pays up to $350 for airfare plus a $150 honorarium. AATG also runs a summer study program in Germany and has study awards available for German students who score in the 90th percentile on the National German Exam. And have you checked out AATG’s website? It contains a wealth of material including professional development opportunities and publications. (http://aatg.org/) If you haven’t already, please consider joining our professional organization, AATG.
Finally, if any of you have not been receiving my e-mails or have questions or concerns, please contact me at cherier@sd381.k12.id.us Viele Grüsse, Cherie
