The Idaho Association of Teachers of Language and Culture is proud to announce that Adam Li, a dedicated Chinese teacher at Renaissance High School in the West Ada School District, has been selected as the Idaho Language Teacher of the Year for 2024. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding educators who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership and who have made significant contributions to language teaching and learning in the state of Idaho.
Adam Li's nomination garnered overwhelming support from administrators, colleagues, parents, students, and friends within the language community. One colleague shares, "Adam's student's IB scores are consistently the highest in the nation and dare I say in the world. This is not an exaggeration, IB exams for seniors are externally scored and results for world scores are published." Of his dedication, another supporter shares, "Adam Li is loved by his students and parents… His students have a genuine love for learning languages. Adam encourages students and goes above and beyond to help students learn a difficult language. His lunchtime is spent with students as an advisor and he deeply cares about the lives of his students. He spends summers in workshops and professional learning opportunities to improve and deepen his profession." The selection committee was impressed by the sheer number and variety of responses, which highlighted Mr. Li's unwavering commitment to language education and his positive impact on those around him. Throughout his years of service, Adam Li has consistently exhibited qualities that set him apart as an exemplary educator. His dedication to his students, leadership within the school community, teaching excellence, and professional development, have made a lasting impact on the language education landscape. Li will go on to represent Idaho regionally at PNCFL (Pacific Northwest Council For Languages) in March. "We are thrilled to honor Adam Li as Idaho’s Language Teacher of the Year. His commitment to excellence and his positive influence on the language education community make him truly deserving of this award. We look forward to celebrating his achievements and expressing our gratitude by awarding Adam with a token of appreciation," said Omar Ponce, president of the Idaho Association of Teachers of Language and Culture. The Idaho Association of Teachers of Language and Culture is dedicated to promoting excellence in language education. The association supports language educators, fosters collaboration, and recognizes outstanding contributions to the field.
