Strategic Vision

IATLC’s Core Pillars
IATLC’s work is grounded in four interconnected pillars—often represented as peaks—that reflect our long-term commitments and values. These pillars guide decision-making, program development, partnerships, and advocacy efforts across the organization.

Strategic Planning at IATLC

Our Annual Strategic Planning Process
Each year, the IATLC Board engages in a structured strategic planning process to identify priority areas for the coming school year.
During our annual summer retreat, the board conducts a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) to assess IATLC’s current context and future needs. Board members collaboratively identify key weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, then vote to prioritize the most pressing areas within each category.
From these results, the board engages in a second round of discussion and voting to determine the top strategic focus areas for the year. This process ensures that IATLC’s annual initiatives are grounded in reflection, data, and collective leadership, while remaining aligned with our core pillars.

IATLC’s 2025–2026 Key Initiatives

Based on this strategic planning process, the IATLC Executive Board identified three key initiatives for the 2025–2026 school year. These initiatives represent the areas where focused attention and action will have the greatest impact for our members and the broader language education community.

1. Funding and Budgeting
Our goal is to create a sustainable annual budget that reflects IATLC’s strategic priorities and identifies multiple sources of funding to support our mission.
2. Membership Growth and Retention
We are working to grow IATLC’s membership while ensuring all members feel supported, connected, and valued.
3. Communication Systems
We are building a framework for effective communication across stakeholders to promote transparency, engagement, and shared purpose.

These initiatives are designed to strengthen IATLC and ensure we continue delivering meaningful value to our members and advancing language education across Idaho.
